PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project is located at 673 Crescent Ave in the City of Saratoga Springs, New York. It
involves the subdivision of one residential parcel into two residential parcels. The existing
parcels are zoned RR Rural Residential.
EXISTING CONDITIONS
Water Distribution – A 12” City of Saratoga Springs watermain is located within the west side of
Crescent Ave. An existing hydrant is located along the front edge of the parcel.
Sanitary Sewer – A sanitary main runs along the east side of Crescent Ave, with a manhole
located on the line. This sanitary main flows via gravity to the Saratoga County Sewer District
(SCSD) Pump Station that eventually discharges to the SCSD treatment plant in Mechanicville.
SEWER AND WATER USAGE
The table below provides information on the anticipated average potable water use and
wastewater flow rates for the project. Water use and wastewater flow are estimated to be equal
for this study.
Table - Average Daily Flow (ADF)
3 Bedroom Home: (2 homes) x (330 gpd/home)1 660 gpd
Total 660 gpd
Summary of Design Flows
Average daily flow for wastewater is estimated to be 0.5 gallons per minute (gpm) based on a 24
hour day. Estimated peak hourly flow is 2.2 gpm (4.41 x average).2
Average daily demand for water is estimated to be approximately equal to the wastewater flow
or 0.5 gpm. Instantaneous peak demand is estimated at 3.0 gpm3 for each residence giving a total
instantaneous demand of 6.0 gpm.
PROPOSED CONDITIONS
Water Distribution – To serve the project, two (2) new 3/4” copper water services will be
connected to the existing 12” water main. The nearest fire hydrant is located on the west side
of Crescent Ave, at the southern property line of the project.
Sanitary Sewer – To service the project, two (2) new sanitary sewer services will be installed at
the existing sewer main.
Notes:
1. From Table 1, Appendix 75-A Wastewater Treatment Standards - Residential Onsite
Systems
(110 gallons per day per bedroom)
2. From Figure 1, GLUMRB Recommended Standards for Wastewater Facilities
Q = (18 + P ½) ÷ (4 + P ½) where P = population in thousands
3. From Tables XIV Community Water Systems Source Book, Ameen
(3.0 gpm/residence)
