I. Project Description
The Saratoga Center for the Family Project involves the construction of a new office building at
359 Ballston Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The site is bounded by Ballston Ave to the east
and the Railroad Run walking path to the west.
II. Existing Water and Sanitary Sewer Utilities
Existing Water Utilities
Along the project frontage the City of Saratoga Springs municipal water system includes a 14”
water main located within Ballston Ave. The existing building on the site is currently served by a
1” water service from the city water main.
Existing Sanitary Sewer Utilities
The sanitary sewer infrastructure within the project area consists of a 36-inch Saratoga County
Sewer District No. 1 (SCSD No. 1) trunk sewer main located west of the project site along the
Railroad Run walking path.
The sewer main ultimately discharges to the Saratoga County Sewer District No. 1 (SCSD)
wastewater treatment plant in Mechanicville.
III. Projected Water and Wastewater Flows
The proposed office building is expected to accommodate of 6 employees. Based on the
employee count, the anticipated wastewater generation rates for the project are summarized in
the table below:
Description Use Rate Total Use
Employees (6 Employees) 15 gpd/Employees1 90 gpd
Total 90 gpd
Average daily flow for wastewater is estimated to be 0.2 gallons per minute (gpm) based on an
8-hour day.
Average daily demand for water is estimated to be approximately equal to the wastewater flow.
IV. Proposed Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Utilities
Proposed Water Utilities
To serve the proposed building, a 1-inch copper water service is proposed to connect to the
existing 1-inch water service that serves the existing building on site. The new water service will
provide domestic water supply for the building and its occupants.
Connections and appurtenances, including valves, trenching, bedding, service connections, as
well as testing and disinfection will all be specified in accordance with City of Saratoga Springs
and NYSDOH standards.
Proposed Sanitary Sewer Utilities
To provide sanitary sewer service to the proposed building, a new 4-inch PVC sewer lateral is
proposed to connect to the existing building sewer lateral on site. The lateral will continue to
connect to the sanitary manhole northwest of the site. Connections and appurtenances, trenching,
bedding, and piping will all be specified in accordance with City of Saratoga Springs and SCSD
standards.
