History
Our neighborhood association, The Van Dam and Church Neighborhood Association, has been fighting truck traffic on our street for over four years.
One of our Executive Committee members, a native Saratogian, took on the issue of pollution from trucks. She knew it was an issue when the white towel she would use to wipe down her
front porch would turn completely black from soot and oil residue.
She contacted the Environmental Protection Agency herself to see what they could do. They sent her multiple air pollution monitors.

History Cont.
We saw the initial results were not in the “good” category
We wondered how many locations in our city were also in the “moderate” level of concern
Our native Saratogian placed another monitor on her parents’ house which is on Caroline Street on the East Side to compare locations
