Currently the situation on Van Dam Street is unsafe and unsustainable, with a daily traffic flow exceeding 600 tractor trailers through this designated historic neighborhood. We recommend this initiative be included in the Vision Zero project, considering the following: 1. Safety 2. Preservation of neighborhoods 3. Minimize excessive noise 4. Identify problem areas 5. Create and implement a countywide solution Recognizing the tremendous growth in Saratoga Springs and Saratoga County since the 1980's, we need to plan appropriately, creating safe routes for all concerned, preserving the character of Saratoga Springs. Finally, Complete Streets supports implementing 25 mph speed limits within the City's jurisdiction as recommended in the most recent Safe Streets for All/Vision Zero engineering report. Implementing lower speed limits throughout the City promotes safety and accessibility for both residents and visitors. Sincerely, Ken Grey, Complete Streets Chair
