Comments In my opposition to allowing the creation of a large curved
driveway onto Fourth Street from the proposed new home at
832 N. Broadway, I submit the following for your consideration.
Fourth Street is really a lane with a bucolic feel. It is used more
by pedestrians than cars. With Bryan Street technically a dead
end, and Fourth street allowing only a single car to pass in one
direction, car traffic is minimal. A large curved driveway, with its
resultant increase in traffic and ability to park a large number of
vehicles adjacent to Fourth Street,wouild destroy this historic
setting, and it would be out of context with the history of Fourth
Street. When Bryan Street was a horse and buggy lane, Fourth
Street was the residential boundary lane for seasonal travelers,
the peaceful northern edge of the village. Fourth Street served
as the official limit for the prestigious North Broadway
residential area. A place where people would drive to admire
the incredible architecture and the quiet park-like setting of
Fourth Street away from the downtown noise. A large curved
driveway on Fourth Street would be out of historic context.
