Dear Mr. Grant:
National Grid has been advised of Regenerons interest in the Grande Industrial Park located in Saratoga
County for the construction of a Regeneron Pharmaceuticals facility. Regeneron is a biotechnology
company that invents, develops and commercializes life-transforming medicines for people with serious
diseases. The Grande Industrial Park site is currently partially supplied by Quad Graphics Substation on
Duplainville Road in Saratoga Springs, NY. This Substation is owned by Regeneron who would continue
to utilize the Quad Graphics substation until new 115kV tap(s) are constructed and a new Regeneron
115kV Substation is completed.
National Grid has reviewed a proposal from Regeneron to serve 12 MVA at the former Quad Graphics
facility and has preliminarily found that the proposed service will not cause negative impacts to the local
system. The existing facility is served via a radial 34.5 kV sub-transmission line from the Brook Road
substation and only serves this facility. All local distribution is served fully separate lines at different
voltages, and therefore this interconnection will have no direct impacts on any residential customers.
Further analysis will be conducted upon National Grid being provided with a preliminary load sheet and
schedule by Regeneron
There will be more than one service on property when Regeneron will be supplied from both the 115kV
and 34.5kV sources. The proposed site expansion and possible 115 kV service proposed by Regeneron is
currently under study by the NYISO. Any impacts and mitigations required from the 115 kV expansion will
be determined as an outcome of that study.
The terms, conditions, costs and schedule of that arrangement will be discussed going forward. We will
carefully collaborate with your engineering design teams on both the34.5kV sub-transmission service
and the long-range 115kV transmission service arrangements.
