The two-story, front gable vernacular residence at 47 Ash Street was built prior to 1888. The exact date of construction of 47 Ash Street is uncertain without additional research. Based on research of historic maps, the house did not have a front porch until it was added between 1900 and 1926. The Foundation appreciates that the applicant completed the window survey. However, it was difficult to determine the condition of some of the windows based on the photos provided. It would be helpful if additional photos were provided. It is rare to have a historic photograph that can inform the reconstruction. The Foundation recommends that the porch be reconstructed based on the historic photographs that were provided in the application, not as proposed. The Foundation thanks the applicant for their investment in their historic property. Sincerely, C.
