Dear Tamie:
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation reviewed the application to construct a new
garage at 581 North Broadway.
The Greek Revival style residence was built circa 1834 by Joel Root. It is a contributing
building to the North Broadway Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic
Places.
The Foundation has no objections to the proposed garage. While typically the garage bays
would front the alley, the Foundation understands that due to the grade change of the rear
yard, the parallel placement helps to reduce the overall height of the garage and minimize
the impact on the rear yard.
The Foundation appreciates the investment that the owner is making into their historic
property.
