RE: 115 Union Avenue- Exterior Alterations
Dear Tamie,
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation reviewed the exterior alterations at 115 Union
Avenue.
The 1886 Queen Anne residence was designed by prominent local architect S. Gifford
Slocum and is a contributing building to the Union Avenue Historic District listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
The Foundation understands the need for gutters. However, the Foundation respectfully
requests that the applicant relocate the downspouts so that they are placed on the east and
west elevations as far back as possible from the primary façade of the porch.
The Foundation appreciates the owner’s investment and commitment to the stewardship of
the property.
