Project should keep more mature trees on-site and add
a screened buffer to RR Run
Project should:
1.Preserve more existing trees. Hundreds will be removed with current plan wiping out the
small forest area (per Sheet 5 Removals Plan above).
2.Create a continuously screened buffer along rear property line. Proposed 1 small
crabapple and 2 junipers per structure not enough. Can’t rely just on trees within City
owned RR Run alone. Visualization provided by applicant is not an accurate representation
of the proposed tree removals impact .
3.Require no-cut buffer along rear property line to ensure trees permanently remain and not
removed in future.
Removal (X) of hundreds of trees proposed
Railroad Run is the “Broadway” of Saratoga trails-
186,201 trips in 2024 per Capital Region
Transportation Council.
Impact to trail needs to be carefully considered.
Heavily used by locals as well as tourists
connecting to Spa State Park.
Forested parts of trail (see to left) essential to
protect to provide shade, screening from back of
plaza, noise buffer, stormwater management, and
protect biodiversity. Preserving and expanding the
urban tree canopy is important element in the
City’s Climate Action Plan (2025).
New St Subdivision comments December 4, 2025
Proposed City street should be required to consider full
connection through to Aletta St , not be a dead end
Saratoga Springs inner core is an interconnected grid as seen above. This allows traffic to be
dispersed and provides interconnectivity.
Proposed dead end City street doesn’t meet typical City standard and functions as a private
site driveway. Providing a connection out to Aletta St will best serve the project and serve as
a means to integrate into any future redevelopment of the adjacent shopping plaza.
Project should provide pedestrian and cyclist access
to Railroad Run
Project should:
1.Provide future residents access to RR Run
even if fencing put up.
2.Provide public access between RR Run
(public ROW) and new proposed city street.
3.Ensure connection(s) can be further
extended with any future plaza
redevelopment. Informal paths across site to
back of shopping plaza are already used by
neighborhood.
