Comments The proposed housing units, located within 250 feet of Price
Chopper and other commercial operations, raise significant
compatibility concerns. I would like clarification on one point: Is
there any intent or expectation that Price Chopper or nearby
businesses would eventually be required to relocate as a result
of this development?
Additionally, the plan calls for the removal of mature trees, and
replacing them with young saplings is not a sufficient mitigation

strategy, especially given future conflicts with utility easements.
Several traffic and safety issues also remain unaddressed. The
bike-path/YMCA intersection is already suboptimal, and the
New Street–Route 50 intersection clearly needs a left-turn lane.
Are there plans to widen New Street? Will the subdivision’s
access point be placed on the curve between the YMCA and
Espey exits? And will traffic signals be added?
These questions must be clearly resolved before the project
can responsibly proceed.
