HomeMy WebLinkAbout20250894 15 Benton Dr Area Variance Letter to Zoning 11252025 November 25, 2025 City of Saratoga Springs Attn: - Zoning Board Re: 15 Benton Drive Dear Members of the Zoning Board, Regarding Comparable Front Porches As requested at the last meeting, we have provided examples of homes in the surrounding neighborhood that include front porches. Over the past several years, the area has experienced numerous renovations and home improvements, many of which have incorporated covered entries and integrated front porches. A drive through the adjacent streets clearly shows that such porches have become a common and characteristic feature of the neighborhood. Front porches are a longstanding, character-defining element of Saratoga Springs architecture and offer practical benefits, including protection from inclement weather. Enclosed are several nearby examples for the Board review. Regarding Previous Approval We also respectfully ask the Board to consider the prior approval granted in 2021 for a front-yard setback variance. At that time, the Board approved the relief of 9'-5". With the current application, we are requesting 9'-0" of relief—less than what was previously approved. Thank you for your time and consideration.
