Comments South Broadway is a relic of 1950s–60s zoning that required
deep setbacks and big parking lots. It runs completely against
Saratoga’s historic, walkable fabric.
Losing another local example of historic architecture, in this
instance Greek Revival, for more pavement and a larger
convenience store means additional erosion of local character.
Each loss seems minor on its own, but together they turn a
distinctive town into “anywhere suburban America.”

This project removes four apartments, eliminates the chance to
restore a historic structure, and primarily benefits Stewart’s and
a local slumlord, NOT the community.
Stewart’s goal is to maximize revenue at every site. That’s not
aligned with preserving what makes Saratoga desirable and
unique.
