Comments Verizon Wireless seeks to install a wireless cell antenna and
equipment on a utility pole located directly in front of our home
at 144 Spring Street and specifically, outside bedroom windows
and in close proximity to other residential homes. We urge the
DRB to reject the application. 144 Spring Steet is not on a
street corner. While the applicant describes the name of the
project as "Unmanned Wireless Facility--Spring Street Deli," in

fact, it is not located at the Spring Street Deli. It is directly in
front of our home, closer to the middle of the block.
The proposed cell antenna and equipment is located directly
outside our upstairs bedroom which has four windows. The cell
antenna and equipment appear level with or slightly above the
roofline of our new porch and directly in front of the bedroom
windows. The antenna and equipment are unsightly and not in
character with the historic district. More importantly, we have
grave concerns about potential adverse health effects from this
type of cell equipment.
Studies have raised health concerns related to wireless
telecommunications equipment on utility poles, including
potential exposure to radiofrequency radiations. Some studies
have linked exposure to symptoms such as headaches, fatigue,
dizziness, nausea and even heart palpitations. In the
"conclusion" section of applicant's Statement of Intent (section
III of page "2"), applicant claims that Verizon Wireless' existing
macro cell sites in the area "do not provide adequate coverage
and capacity to this area of the city." In fact, we have been
Verizon wireless customers for over 18 years, precisely
because their coverage is excellent in this area of the city.
There are utility poles located throughout the city, and many
are located on street corners and/or in front of commercial
buildings. The applicant should install the equipment on a utility
pole either in front of a commercial building or on a street
corner, not directly in front of homes.
