Area Variance
Dear Board Members,
Per our conversation during last night’s Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, you asked me to
provide the board (via email to Susan Barden) comparable neighboring homes with similar
square footage as my proposed project.
The Zoning Department indicated that there are 11 properties within 100 feet of my property.
When removing St Clements Church and my own property, that leaves 9 properties. The
attached spread sheet and Zillow listings show the address and the square footage of said
properties. Of the nine properties, 4 are actually larger than my proposed plan including the
new 96sf covered rear porch, 4 are smaller in square footage and the neighbor to my immediate
right when facing the house is nearly identical in size (1503sf v 1581sf). So as we discussed, the
proposed changes that I am asking to do to my property have me right in the middle of the
neighborhood properties.
My existing square footage 1,161 sf
+ 18’ x 18’ 2nd story addition above existing footprint of home (+ 324 sf) 1,485 sf
+ new proposed 8’ x 12’covered rear porch (+96 sf ) 1,581 sf
Additionally, you asked for screen shots from Google maps and the Saratoga County Tax
Assessment interactive map program to show the surrounding neighborhood properties. I have
attached an individual area picture as well of the four properties that are larger than my
proposed plan as well as my house. Note the house numbers appear on the roof of the
properties.
Hopefully this information will answer the two requests from the Board Members. Thank you in
