Project Address 624 North Broadway Comments Dear Design Review Board, The exterior design of the proposed building for 624 North Broadway is shockingly unattractive and site-inappropriate. I was expecting it to look like the new condos on Union Avenue, Victorian-style with a turret. Has anyone looked at the photos of the two houses that were originally on this site before the Jehovah’s Witnesses building? The one on the corner was a Second Empire Victorian, very similar to the one at 35 Greenfield Ave., one block west. 9/10/25, 8:04 AM Mail - Mark Graham - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdlMy05MTNlLTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAAHSwHzB26dApiSQOboUwv…1/2 35 Greenfield was almost completely rebuilt a few years ago, and all of that Second Empire- style roof is new. Clearly it could be re-created again. Also, many of the rebuilds in the neighborhood have faux (veneer) stone foundations. Seems to be easy to do, and is much more attractive than concrete. It’s puzzling why the garage entrance would be proposed for the Rock Street side of the building instead of the Burke Alley side. The North Broadway/Rock St./Greenfield Avenue intersection is busy and dangerous. (Check the accident statistics.) Besides the visual appearance of a garage door, a driveway that close to the intersection does not seem wise. It would also eliminate the few parking spaces that exist there. Thank you for considering these points. Sincerely, Dan Malsan 630 North Broadway Attach Photo (optional)Field not completed. Email not displaying correctly?
