Comments North Broadway is one of the finest examples of the preserved
residential Victorian architecture in our beautiful city of
Saratoga Springs. We agree with the Preservation Foundation
that the proposed development of 624 North Broadway
threatens the integrity of the Broadway historic district, itself
holding a National Register designation.
While the ideal situation would be a single-family residence that
keeps with the character of the charming residential

neighborhood, the second-best option would be in-line with the
other multi-unit buildings that are adaptively reused single-
family residences on North Broadway. We agree that a building
that looks like a single-family residence, uses historic building
materials characteristic of the neighborhood, and addresses
the additional concerns presented by the Preservation
Foundation — including proportion, directional expression,
architectural rhythm, front setback, rooflines and shapes,
windows and doors, and porches — would be a more
appropriate addition to one of the most charming streets in all
of Saratoga, and a shining example of what makes this city so
desirable to live in.
