Project Name Park Place and Cottage Street Project Number 20250203 Project Address 7 Cottage Street Comments I have chosen to wait to hear the concerns of the residents most impacted by this development proposal, and it is clear that there is virtually no support for this project in its current design. The advisory opinion from the Design Review Board is as expected, considering the Board rarely (if ever) supports the concerns of the residents, while demonstrating a consistent bias for the "needs" of the developer. In this case, the justification for the clear over massing and density of the structure is based on the "fanciful" characterization, by the 7/22/25, 12:43 PM Mail - Mark Graham - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdlMy05MTNlLTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAGsRegL9CZVIvMJ2fRiUyEU…1/2 developer, that there was a hotel on this site in the 1800's. While there may have been a large 3 story house there, the information that was provided makes clear that it was a summer residence for a wealthy family. That having been said, an additional reason for my concern is that the last thing needed in Saratoga is more high income housing. We have plenty (as others have said), that remains uninhabited most of the year, and plenty that is out of the reach of a majority of long term residents. Saratoga clearly needs real affordable housing. Additional concerns relate to the abysmal behavior of the property owners, who erected their 6 foot fence so they did not have to see the mess on their property that borders the sidewalk. Residents, and those of us who try and walk down those blocks daily, were unable to, due to the lack of maintenance. Ignoring the bushes and trees that blocked the sidewalk - even shoveling the snow was too much to ask. Now these people want to be "rewarded" for their disregard of the neighbors and pedestrians with a project that further impacts nearby residents. I urge the Board to address the neighbors and residents concerns and do the job of planning, not rubber stamping everything that is proposed. Attach Photo (optional)Field not completed.
