HomeMy WebLinkAbout20250533 26 Finley St Site Plan Public Comment (2)To: The City of Saratoga Springs New York Attn: Mayor John Safford City of Saratoga Springs Planning and Zoning Department Citty of Saratoga Springs Office of Community Development City of Saratoga Springs Design and Review Board We the residents of Saratoga Springs NY South Broadway and beyond are adamantly opposed to the proposed development of the Rise 71-unit affordable apartment complex located on Finley Street. This proposed three story building will negatively impact and alter the nature of this well -developed residential community. This commercial complex has no place in this community which is comprised of single -story homes. This complex will tower over our homes, adding to noise, traffic, lighting pollution and an undetermined questionable population. This section of the city is and will be excessively saturated with these special needs populations compromising the peace and security of this neighborhood. Our neighborhoods have already been negatively impacted over the last three years due to the homeless shelter located on Finley Street. This and all other existing and proposed projects will only exacerbate the dangerous environment that already exists. Police vehicles have been responding to issues with the homeless site pretty much on a daily basis. Residents have been threatened, the streets of Saratoga have been inundated with vagrant Individuals begging, panhandling and sleeping on sidewalks. They are often seen rummaging through our neighborhood trash cans. These individuals are begging for handouts and cursing those who do not provide, many of which appear to be transients from outside the city. See attached map noting concentrated proximity of these facilities to our long-established residential communities. In addition, the continued deforesting of green space in the city of Saratoga is a disgrace and must be stopped. Climate change has significantly increased both temperature and humidity mandating the need for green space. This area has provided valuable refuge for animals, birds, and protection to homes from wind, noise and heat. These projects shall and must be disapproved and or relocated where as not to impact residential communities or the environment.
