The vote, 6 members to 2 on the approval of the design of this building, was, to say the least, disappointing and, quite frankly, shocking. 6/17/25, 11:41 AM Mail - Mark Graham - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdlMy05MTNlLTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAIqRkILXphRJltzuUQhGbMY%…1/2 The number of folks that showed up to both meetings was impressive, all to express their concerns regarding density, traffic, noise, to name a few. It all fell on deaf ears. The letters received in favor of the project belong to people who are obviously friends of the developer as they live nowhere near this neighborhood. One as far away as Massachusetts! Again, we expressed our concerns about having an 18,000+ sq ft building with a12 foot setback from our property line (we provided photos of our side yard set-back, 3 feet!) with respect to sunlight and snow. While we are not opposed to the development of that property, an 18,000+ square foot building simply does not fit the landscape of the neighborhood. Cottage Street, which is a very short, narrow street, would not be appropriate to accommodate the traffic and comings and goings of DPW workers or garbage removal. We were surprised that the DRB at this meeting spent an hour and half scrutinizing a detached garage on Georges Street (which they did not approve) and 15 minutes discussing the condo project (after they listened to 10 residents of our neighborhood expressing their discontent) which they approved! After we addressed the board (with photos in hand) we asked them all if they would be ok living next door to this project and not one of them answered us. It seems to us that this was an awfully quick decision on their part. We respectfully ask the Planning Board to consider all of us that must live in this neighborhood and perhaps modify the plans to be more accommodating to all.
