I. INTRODUCTION
The proposed Project is located at 56 Duplainville Road, in the City of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga
County, NY. The project includes water and sanitary sewer connections to a new guard house
building. It is expected that the Guard House will have a peak of 6 employees at a time.
II. EXISTING WATER AND SANITARY UTILITES
Water service is currently available inside the existing building approximately 675’ to the north
of the location of the proposed guard house.
An existing pump station is located outside of the existing building, approximately 645’
northwest of the location of the guard house, and services the existing building. Wastewater from
this system ultimately flows to the Saratoga County Sewer District No. 1 (SCSD) wastewater
treatment plant in Mechanicville.
III. PROJECTED WATER AND WASTEWATER FLOWS
Table 1 and Table 2 below provide information on the anticipated average potable water use and
wastewater flow rates for the Project in gallons per day (gpd). Water use and wastewater flow
are estimated to be equal for this study.
Average daily demand for water and wastewater is estimated to be the same. Average daily flow
for wastewater is estimated to be 0.0625 gallons per minute (gpm) based on a 24-hour workday
and a maximum of 6 employees utilizing the guard house. Instantaneous peak demand is
estimated at 2.28 gpm3, based on anticipated maximum flow rates from fixtures inside the guard
house building. Refer to Table 1 and Table 2 below:
Table 1: Projected Sanitary Flow Rates
Description Use Rate Total Use
(6) Employees 15 gpd/each1 90 gpd
Total 90 gpd
Table 2: Instantaneous Flow from Plumbing Fixtures
Description Use Rate Total Use
(2) Sinks 0.5 gpm 1.0gpm
(1) Toilets 1.28 gpm 1.28 gpm
Total 2.28 gpm
IV. PROPOSED WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITIES
A. Proposed Potable Water Utilities
To service the project, a 1.25” DR-11 HDPE water service is proposed to connect to the east
side of the proposed building and run north to the existing building on site. Connection and
appurtenances including tapping sleeves, valves, trenching, bedding, as well as testing and
disinfection will all be specified in accordance with the City of Saratoga Springs and
NYSDOH standards.
B. Proposed Wastewater Utilities
For sanitary sewer collection a 4” SDR-26 PVC lateral will flow by gravity into an E-ONE
duplex grinder pump, positioned north of the proposed structure. The proposed grinder pump
station will pump the effluent flow northwest to discharge in the existing pump station.
