I have lived in the City of Saratoga Springs for the past 26 years and am a proud supporter of the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation. In addition, I have always been particularly invested in the Lake Avenue School community and surrounding neighborhoods in my position as a Speech and Language Pathologist at Lake Avenue School (now retired). In my position, I provided services to children at Waldorf School and St. Clement’s School. I know these downtown neighborhoods well. In my 26 years in Saratoga Springs, I have watched our city steadily grow as a very desirable place to live and raise a family. As reported in the Times-Union last October, Saratoga Springs was rated 17th best small city in the nation, according to the 2024 Best Small Cities in America report. The condominium project that has been proposed is a well-designed and aesthetically beautiful tribute to the Park View Hotel that stood on the same property in the 1800’s. Change is inevitable as our city grows, and with change should come improvements and additions that both honor and bridge our history and future. The condominium project that has been proposed is a well-designed and an aesthetically attractive building that will add value to the neighborhood and improvement to the appearance of the immediate neighborhood, some homes of which appear in disrepair and in need of upkeep. In terms of concerns about trafic on Cottage Street, many people are forgetting that 7 Cottage Street was at one time, in the not-so-distant past, a public gymnastics studio and later a successful tax/insurance business, both of which caused a large number of cars coming and going on a daily, and certainly hourly basis on Cottage Street. Just as the 7 condominiums at 11 Cottage Street have brought far less trafic than the two previous commercial businesses did, I am certain that the trafic of the 6 condominium units proposed will be easily accommodated, as Cottage Street has demonstrated an ability to accommodate signiicantly heavier trafic in the past. Sincerely, Agnes Gavin 8 Laura Lane Outlook Letter regarding proposed project on Park Place and Cottage Stree From Agnes Gavin <aggiegavin821@gmail.com> Date Mon 5/19/2025 12:53 PM To Susan Barden <Susan.Barden@saratoga-springs.org>; Mark Graham <Mark.Graham@saratoga-springs.org> 1 attachment (15 KB) Planning Board.docx; CAUTION: This email originated outside of the City network.
