Re: SEQRA

Dear Leah Charash:
Thank you for requesting the comments of the Division for Historic Preservation of the Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) as part of your SEQRA process. These comments are
those of OPRHP and relate only to Historic/Cultural resources. They do not include potential
environmental impacts to New York State Parkland that may be involved in or near your project.
The proposed project is located within the State and National Register listed Broadway Historic District.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Saratoga Springs building, 624 North Broadway, is not
eligible for State and National Register listing and is a non-contributing resource to the district. We
understand that the proposed project includes demolition of the existing building and construction of a
four-unit condominium building with parking in the sub grade garage level.
There are no archaeological concerns associated with this project. We recommend that any new
construction be compatible with the surrounding district. See the following page for general guidance on
compatible new construction. New construction site plans, building elevations, and renderings are
typically required to assess appropriateness.
If you would like any further comments from our office concerning this project, we request that you
provide the name, mailing address, and email of the SEQRA Lead Agency contact, along with a
specific review request from the Lead Agency. For SEQRA, the lead agency is typically a municipality
or other local agency such as the planning board that is requesting our comment.
If this project will involve state or federal permitting, funding or licensing, it may require continued review
for potential impacts to architectural and archaeological resources, in accordance with Section 106 of
the National Historic Preservation Act or Section 14.09 of NYS Parks Recreation and Historic
Preservation Law.
If you have any questions, I can be reached via email or at (518) 268-2164.
Sincerely,
Weston Davey
