I spoke at the last meeting echoing the sentiments of all the other speakers, ie that the building was too big, was inappropriate for the neighborhood, and dramitically increase the traffic on Cottage St. Since then, I have refined my opinion a bit. There are three things that I think are wrong with this project as it stands. !. The entrance is in the wrong place. Park Place is already a busy street, so putting the entrance on that side would make no noticeable change. 2. The proposed three story building is too big. it is in no way in keeping with the character of the neighborhood. Its footprint needs to be reduced so that it does not dominate the buildings around it. 3. If we are going to have a condo development, let's at least have two stories, not three, and four units, not six. I was impressed with the board chair's comment that their job was to make sure that the development that they approved was in the best interest of the city. If we can scale that down to the project at hand, I think we have all been trying to say that this project as it stands,is not in the best interest of the community.
