Comments I’ve lived on the West Side of Saratoga Springs for 8 years
now. As a retired real estate lawyer and long-standing Zoning
Board committee member in my former hometown, I am truly
gobsmacked by the 36 Hyde St. build from start to finish and
am failing to understand just how this secondary dwelling was
constructed with a 77% reduction in the first place. Was a
variance granted for this? I would also like to point out that to
the best of my knowledge and according to assurances

expressly given by builder to neighbors, and contrary to the
information provided on the 36 Hyde St. application, this
structure’s stated intent never included occupancy. If new
owners wish to make this claim on record, they might want to
obtain copies of approved plans that can support said claim.
The bottom line is that this board must insist on maintaining
zoning precedent by uphold this denial, as building on all
available space continues in the West Side UR-2 district.
