Comments I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed 6-unit
construction project at 7 Cottage Street, which appears as
Project 20250203 on the May 8, 2025 Planning Board meeting
agenda. As a resident of this neighborhood since 1980, I am
deeply concerned that scale of this project is not consistent
with the character of our community.
The proposed development is a special use that does not align

with the existing residential nature of our neighborhood. The
introduction of six new living units will significantly alter the
character and charm of Cottage Street, which is known for its
single-family homes and quiet atmosphere.
Additionally, I am concerned about the potential parking
problems and additional traffic that this project will create.
Cottage Street already experiences limited parking availability,
and the addition of six new units will severely exacerbate this
issue. The increased demand for parking spaces will lead to
congestion and inconvenience for current residents.
I urge the Planning Board to consider the impact this project
will have on our neighborhood and to deny the application for
the 6-unit construction at 7 Cottage Street. Preserving the
character and livability of our community should be a priority.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Arthur B. Porter III
