Project Address 30 Caroline St. Comments I just wanted to say, I know it's got to be frustrating to keep coming back for approvals. I hope the applicant knows it's because people actually care about this city and what happens to it, and what a great thing that is in the grand scheme of things. But, that being said, the applicant was asked to come back with some added character to the building and I don't think that was achieved. I was trying to figure out why it just doesn't work and in my opinion it's just too modern looking, too https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdIMyO5MTNILTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAMpENwl ZrWpBiag8xGKt9AI... 1/2 4/30/25,9:00 AM Mail-Mark Graham-Outlook much glass and not enough other materials. I think with wanting to preserve the historic nature of Sperry's you would want to make it look like the rest of the building has always been there, not like a building was built on top of it, if that makes sense. I think a good example of fitting in seamlessly is the Northshire Bookstore building. Walking by you would never know it was a late addition to Broadway. It has a variety of different shaped windows, angles, character to it and fits in nicely with its surroundings. So, maybe less glass, more brick, and a variety of materials...maybe some corbels, shaped arches etc. would help. I also wanted to commend the board for making sure the project is right for the space. Growth is great for downtown! Just make it fit in, and respect what's been there for many years before you.
