ENHANCE EXTERIOR ELEMENTS BUILDING FACADES To re-establish the contemporary yet classic aesthetic of Residence Inn, color -blocking is the recommended approach for all exterior elements. From the existing roof and masonry finishes, to the optional pergolas and cladding, the combination of colors and materials are to complement one another considering scale, form, color, and texture for a unified presentation. Best Practices: Color -Blocking • For an elevated look, identify a rich, visually appealing neutral as the Base; coordinate with 1 or 2 associated colors of lighter tonal value. — Modern Gray enhances contrast between Base, Accent and Main, — Modern Tan offers a more tonal palette, recommended for use where existing brick is to remain. • Reinforce differentiation between architectural elements by highlighting entrances, recessed bays, and uninterrupted vertical elements (e.g. stair towers); maintain visual weight at the ground floor for a balanced look. • Complete the modern visual with appropriate contrast; utilize a bright white paint color to refresh all trim and peripherals, including window frames, exterior edging, and downspouts. A clear signal of an updated, modern hotel is a freshly painted building exterior and contemporary elements. • Hotel exteriors and elements are to be respectful of the local vernacular, contributing to the architectural context. • With the re -centered guest approach and Vestibule, focus any new materials at guest -facing areas, such as at the Main Entry; this offers an eye-catching backdrop to refreshed building and site signage as well as for updated landscaping and site lighting. • Paint existing masonry in the Base, or darkest, tone of your color and material palette to enhance the visual impact of this point of entry against the dappled shadows of the pergola during the day, and the welcoming light from adjacent doors and windows at night.
