Comments This proposed design for 30 Caroline St. is incompatible with the existing Victorian-style buildings and the scale of it is too much for the location. Sperry's Restaurant ends up getting swallowed up by the 5-story proposed building behind it. The design of 30-301/2 is very bland and unattractive, just like most of the buildings going up in Saratoga Springs. The whole thing lacks character and does not fit in the historic district. The Design Review Board is completely ignoring recommendations 4/10/25, 11:31 AM Mail - Mark Graham - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdlMy05MTNlLTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAElKgzHIOnlBh8pHrUyqtUs%3D 1/2 made by the Foundation and the NYS Preservation Office regarding the fact that the new design only preserves the facade of Caroline St. and that the addition of piers to the east "does not the traditional charactoer of the historic district." I would hope that the DRB will require the developer to improve the design making it more in scale to the surrounding buildings by lowering it to a 3/4 story building and change the design to make the design more in keeping with the turn-of-the-century existing buildings. I'm honestly shocked by the low aesthetic quality of buildings being built in our fair city (i.e. the new "luxury" apartment building on Henry St.) and hope you'll seriously consider my suggestions.
