Project Address 30-30 1/2 caroline street Comments To DRB members: This project needs special attention, as it is making a mockery of historic Caroline Street. To have a new 5- story mixed use structure fully engulf a hostoric building from all sides is beyond inappropriate for the street and the nighborhood; it is a joke. Clearly, the motivation here is simply to maximze leasable square footage. To rectify the situation, the architects need to start over. This project should be designed to appear as two or three discrete buildings within https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdIMyO5MTNILTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAJKFVnfl 5kxOgp8s9TaUzCO%... 1/2 4/9/25, 11:12 AM Mail-Mark Graham-Outlook their respective narrow lots, using scale, style, color, and materiality to differentiate one from another. This will hopefully lessen the appearance of a singular massive structure overwhelming Sperrys from the right, left, and top. In this neighborhood the streetscape is typically comprised of brick brownstone type structures, one to each lot. For this project to take over two lots (and surround a smaller building) with the same design is inconsistent with the historic character of Caroline St. I'm attaching an example of how multiple styles of structures are typically laid out in the neighborhood. Regardless of building height or interiior use, the exterior of the project must be reimagined in a way that aspires to this type of variation. No more revisions; they need to start over. Please do our downtown a favor and fight for this one.
