Project Address 30-30 1/2 Caroline Street Comments Hello, As a long time resident of this city I would like to weigh in on the latest rendering of the proposed additions for 30-30 ½ Caroline Street. I don’t feel enough consideration has been given by either the applicant or the Design Review Board to the historical signifigance of the Sperry structure. Our historic buildings/districts are part of that magic. The original shape and mass of lower Caroline Street is being redefined dramatically with this proposal and that of 33-35 Caroline Street. We should be careful. The Sperry structure is one of our jewels and as per this latest redering, it reads in my opinion solely as a vestibule entrance! We can do better than that. Please. Each building is a product of its own time and should be respected for that. Integrity is a gift that we can bestow on some of our most significant structures. Integrity not only in preservation but in perception and setting too. Please revisit the design so that this structure is the highlight and not the afterthought.
