Comments Dear Members of the Design Review Board,
I am writing as a concerned resident to express my opposition
to the proposed addition at 30-30 1/2 Caroline Street. While I
appreciate the effort to bring new life to the property, I believe
the scale, height, and massing of the addition proposed will
compromise the historic integrity of the original Sperry’s
Restaurant building and the of lower Caroline Street.

The concerns raised by both the Preservation Foundation and
the New York State Historic Preservation Office merit much
consideration. The proposed design overwhelms the original
structure and those surrounding it. I strongly support the
recommendation that the addition be set back further and that
the design be reconsidered with more contextual sensitivity to
reduce the perceived mass and better align with the character
of the neighborhood.
Our historic district is a vital part of what makes Saratoga
Springs unique and vibrant. I hope the Board will take the
opportunity to encourage a more creative and appropriate
design that respects and preserves this legacy.
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Christine
