The proposal for 8-foot deer fencing is considered an effective and sustainable solution to address the issue of deer damage by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). The fencing is considered an improvement under section 1.03 of the easement, and is permitted under section 3.05.11 (D) on condition that it does not block or significantly detract from scenic viewshed areas. The Board was in support of the project, as it not only protects your crops and supports your farming operations, but it also preserves the character of the land without diminishing the public enjoyment of the viewshed area. After review, the DRB issued the following finding: The DRB hereby finds that the proposed deer fencing is consistent with the intent and objectives of the Architectural Review Overlay and the design process. The DRB issues a favorable recommendation on the 8-foot deer fencing made with galvanized steel posts and woven mesh wire. The plans call for four swinging gates in the fencing for tractor access. The DRB motion for a favorable advisory opinion to Pitney Farms is demonstrated by the following vote - passed 7-0 (T. Ehinger, R. DuBoff, C. Bennett, J. Gritsavage, L. DiCarlo, G. Wood, K. Cavotta) Respectfully, Tamie Ehinger, Design Review Board Chair
