Comments Caroline Street is a renowned treasure to multiple generations
of Saratogians as well as visitors to Saratoga. Having grown up
here in the city confines and now living on Saratoga Lake, I
have witnessed a lot of change and a good bit of hard work to
restore and/or build to reflect our historical architecture. It is a
challenge, as our population grows by leaps and bounds, to
impress upon those that have not experienced the "Saratoga"
that so many of us know, that it must not be lost.

In the case of 30-30 1/2 Caroline Street, the site of the former
"Sperry's", the current rendering of the addition seems to
overpower not only the historic Sperry's building and the
sidewalk, but the entire collection of buildings comprising
Caroline Street. The historical portion is truly one of Saratoga's
treasured gems and can really be a wonderful base upon which
to build and enhance the overall project's appeal without being
visually obtrusive. Caroline Street has always maintained a
visual cohesiveness and flow of the buildings and hill that is in
and of itself a valued historical draw.
