RE: 21 Park Place, Lot #2 – New Construction Single Family
Dear Tamie:
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation reviewed the proposed plans to construct a
single-family residence and garage at 21 Park Place.
The vacant property of the proposed new construction is a part of the former land of the
residence at 106 Regent Street, one of the few remaining examples of the Gothic Revival
style in Saratoga Springs, built prior to 1856.
The proposed design for the residence and detached garage at 21 Park Place is compatible
with the surrounding buildings and will represent the period in which it is built.
Front porches are a character-defining feature of residences in Saratoga Springs. The
Foundation is concerned that there is no front porch, and the primary entrance is recessed.
The Foundation recommends a front porch be added and the front door be less recessed
than currently proposed.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Michele Funicello Samantha Bosshart
