Dear Susan, After reviewing the project area, Audrey and I have determined some potential improvements for pedestrian connectivity and safety. Our initial suggestions are connections that would be implemented on Stewart's property within the area and that would help cross Maple Dell and connect to the Stewarts/ rental property. We also included recommendations for the city for future developments/or connections that would need to be constructed in coordination with the city or other property owners (National Grid for example). Below is the list of our suggested improvements: 1. Installation of sidewalk along the southern side of Maple Dell from the proposed medical facility until the intersection with Marion Avenue. Crosswalks should be implemented within the two proposed curb cuts along this section to create a fully connected network. 2. As Stewart's owns the northern parcel on the corner of Maple Dell and Marion, sidewalk could be installed on the entirety of the Eastern side of this parcel, and connected via a crosswalk to the pedestrian infrastructure suggested previously. 3. To allow for safe passage across Marion, without having to detour to the southern intersection crosswalk, the proposed sidewalk on the western side of Marion can be connected to the currently proposed sidewalk on the eastern side of Marion, south of the Stewart curb cut. This will keep pedestrians on a more direct route and will allow them to cross further from the intersection, providing more safety. 4. Additionally, Stewart's should include pedestrian striping/crosswalks at both proposed curb cuts to indicate pedestrian crossing and enhance safety. https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkAGIxYTcxODdiLTE4ZmUtNDdIMyO5MTNILTA4ZjY5NTFhMDAzMQAQAKR8tzMztk8Ot4jT9SJKU8Y%3D 1/3 2/13/25, 12:33 PM Mail-Mark Graham-Outlook The following suggestions are potentially outside the scope of the current proposed project, as some areas are owned by different parties or the city but could be considered when developing the area further. 5. Future coordination with Stewart's to expand sidewalk northward along the Eastern side of Marion Avenue. Stewarts currently owns this parcel and could continue this path as future development occurs. However, there would need to be infrastructure on Avenue A or the western side of Marion to support a crossing. 6. The City of Saratoga Springs could consider implementing sidewalk northward to Avenue A on the Western side of Marion Avenue to increase the pedestrian network and offer a connection to the proposed crosswalk. Additionally, suggestions 5 & 6 in tandem would allow for a crossing at Avenue A. 7. Lastly, expanding the sidewalk on the Eastern side of Marion from the proposed Stewart's sidewalk to the intersection would help fully connect this area by providing crossings at the intersection for both sides of Marion Avenue and access to Maple Dell. This suggestion requires coordination with National Grid. I know this is a very broad look at the area, and some suggestions may be for the future, so I have attached a color-coded map to better highlight the suggestions we propose. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions! Hi Matt, The Planning Board is going to look at SEQRA for the larger area so you can certainly review and comment on the larger area. We only have a subdivision application for the Maple Dell properties so no site plan for any future development for either of those properties. Thanks, again! Hey Susan, I know we just talked but I wanted to clarify something quick. I see that there are also plans for a medical office, and the car wash (which isn't moving forward) on Maple Dell. Do you want our comments to be on the entire area, including this stretch, or solely focused on the Marion Avenue developments at this time? I was curious as we have site plans for the Marion Avenue stretch, but not for the Maple Dell area at this time.
