Hello DRB members and Samantha.
I listened to the Dec. DRB meeting video. Thank you for your valuable feedback.
It seems there's one last item we need your guidance on before the Feb. meeting
so we may provide mock-ups for your review so that you can make final design
decisions. (We decided to push to Feb. mtg. vs. being 19th on the Jan. agenda.)
Around the 2:06 minute mark, Mr. Gritsavitch said, "The upper windows make no
sense. They look like between glass light dividers. So, we're going to have to come
up with something that makes sense there".
We assume he is referring to the 18 pane windows on the west elevation near the
roofline (where A/C unit currently is)? As Sue mentioned, we found the matching
window in the basement that used to be where the A/C unit is.
I agree. They make no sense and are unlike any of the other circa 1850 homes in
the area. The only thing I like about them is the small amount of light they add.
As Sue mentioned, we need to add more light. The plan is to have the original
structure be one floor, open floor plan, with exposed ceiling beams.
Open to doing anything the DRB and Preservation Foundation wish regarding those
windows.
Do we keep them and add an elongated window between them to add more light
and purpose to them?
Do we scrap them and add other widows up high that are era appropriate?
Thank you, Lori Sames
