Comments The environmental impact of this application must not be
ignored. Wetlands serve a purpose - they function as their own
distinct ecosystems - making these areas very important
features of the watershed. They also function as flood control.
The southern wetland is mapped on the federal wetlands map -

why is it not on the City's? We will soon find out if it is deemed
jurisdictional by the NYS DEC. If not, and it is allowed to be
filled in, there is no way you can pretend there is no
enviromental impact - take with that the clear cutting of the
hundreds of young trees, mature trees, and all of the
underbrush, the environmental impact is even greater. Beyond
water the environmental benefits of the decimated trees and
plants also cannot be denied. The job they do in cleaning our
air, controlling run off, being a sound and light barrier and bird
and animal habitat are all significant environmental impacts our
City (Tree City?) will be losing. And for what? to make a land
locked piece of land shovel ready solely for the benefit of the
owner with no apparent building project in sight. A full building
proposal just may be able to save some of the beneficial
environmental influence this land has. The meager (12' - what
happened to the 50' you spoke of in the beginning?) buffer will
in no way, even in 20 yeas, be able to reproduce the lost
benefits. Regardless of what has been allowed in the past,
approving this inappropriate distortion of Land Disturbance
without a building plan is a disservice to the neighbors and all
of the residents of Saratoga Springs - with an undeniable
significant environmental impact for years to come.
I respectfully request the health and well being of the citizens of
Saratoga Springs be thoughtfully considered and project
#20230378 be denied.
