Comments I am writing once again to express my concern about this
project and the impact it will have on the homeowners adjacent
to the property. It was recognized by one of the board members
that if you remove all of the vegetation, there is nothing to soak

up the water. The proposal includes digging a swale to channel
the water towards the large wetland to the Northeast part of the
property, which will supposedly run along several homeowners
properties. We still have not seen an accurate depiction of this
swale, including exact locations or dimensions. When asked by
a board member, "will it be two feet, 4 feet, six feet wide"?, the
"expert" said, "yes something like that". Why is it not required to
be at least 10 feet past the property lines?...it is obviously much
less expensive to run along the property lines as it is the lowest
elevation. Why not require a buffer and direct them to dig a
swale at least 10 feet, but more appropriately 24-30 feet
beyond the property line? The maps used to indicate the terrain
of the land and wetlands is over 10 years old, and not accurate.
The property lines are also not accurate, which has been
proven by a survey, paid for by the homeowners. The biggest
issue I have is that the water that will be re-directed along our
property line has never been tested for contaminates. Over the
years, we have pulled several tires out of the wetland, as well
have seen appliances, engines and other debris. These are
potentially hazardous materials (unlike the harmless pumpkin
or Christmas tree that the applicants lawyer showed in her
pictures of the wetland). I am asking the board to order a water
and soil test prior to any decision being made on this
application. Remember, if the water is contaminated, it will run
into the City's storm water drain on my property, in violation of
the UDO, Article 17, section 2 and 4. The water and soil should
be tested by an independent third party certified firm, not
chosen by the applicant.
