Good afternoon, I would like to share my disapproval of the proposed building at 33-35 Caroline. The proposed building takes away from the charming esthetics that make Saratoga Springs so lovely. While my concerns is with keeping the original esthetics of the cities charm, it is even more so with the break up of the flow to all businesses in Caroline and the general welcoming walkability to each and every business in the vasinity. Saratoga Springs, and the Caroline St blocks in particular, are a tourist destination where people from all over can come, walk down each block and alley, and visit each store front. The current store front of D’Andrea’s is a staple to the tourist that enjoy our charming and welcoming city. Replacing the destination with yet another massive brown brick building would be a disservice. Even more, would this building be locked during the busiest hours of the street? Would there be additional unwelcoming security or barricades keeping the general public on the street away from the corner? How will the construction affect the surrounding businesses? How will the construction effect the current accessibility infrastructure, and for how long? This seems to be the pattern of behavior for newly built mixed used massive brick buildings in the area now, and it is not welcoming to those who enjoy the city for what is already has to offer. Please consider the words of the locals and long time visits over the developers and investors, as the locals and visitors are the ones keeping Saratoga vibrant, while the investors and developers are in the business for the money and not our words. Lastly, please consider the long term effect of all aspects to this community of the continual new development such as the one proposed 10/23/24, 3:51 PM Mail - Julia Destino - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkADI5NDIzZGRiLTQwNjEtNGM1MS05ZmQxLTUyZTNkMzFiZDJiZQAQANJxne%2BkFj9Mp%2F2Qau…1/2 today. Many cities fail to consider the true consequences of the entire community while in this stage of their cities development, and those city are now a shell of what they once were. Please consider this. Thank you, Emma T. Full time Saratoga Springs resident for the past 10 years.
