We actually wanted to build on the lot across the street but were told that the Army Corps of Engineers was 10/2/24, 9:29 AM Mail - Julia Destino - Outlook https://outlook.office365.com/mail/inbox/id/AAQkADI5NDIzZGRiLTQwNjEtNGM1MS05ZmQxLTUyZTNkMzFiZDJiZQAQAFpnI6n4HGJBtfw1W%2BfHZ…1/2 working out the plan for protections for the pond, stream and wetlands. Due to this delay, we purchased across the street at 32 Outlook. Since that time that area has been protected. Large trees, hundreds of years old form a protective barrier for the houses on that side of Outlook, between the backs of businesses on Washington Street. As newer houses were built in the development, drainage was always a concern. We have a sump pump in our basement that is constantly running. We have had flooding in our basement a few times over the years. I know that other houses on our street have dealt with those issues as well. If this new development that is proposed on Washington Street is allowed to progress, serious thought must go into drainage and the impact that it will have on Outlook Avenue, and Central Avenue. If ponds and streams are filled in and many mature growth trees are taken down, there will definitely be serious issues. While I understand the right for Mr. Mohr to improve his property, more regard must be given for the neighboring homes. There must be a better plan for a buffer zone that will protect Outlook and Central Avenues. Does every tree need to be cleared? Does every body of water need to be filled in? Please do what you can to prevent serious problems for all the residents of our established development, while also doing your part to promote businesses and smart development in Saratoga.
