RE: 89 Court Street – Exterior Alterations & New Construction of a Detached Garage
Dear Tamie:
The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation reviewed the application for exterior alterations
to the house and to construct a detached garage at 89 Court Street.
The Stick Style residence at 89 Court Street was built in 1888 by Bartlett Grippen as a rental
property. It is a contributing building to the East Side Historic District listed on the National
Register of Historic Places.
The Foundation does not object to the proposed exterior alterations to the house. It also does
not object to the construction of a single bay, detached garage. The design complements the
main structure. The Foundation recommends that the exterior cladding of the first story be of
one type, rather than two. It also recommends that the first-floor windows of the primary façade
be double-hung windows.
The Foundation appreciates the investment the owners are making into their property.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Michele Funiciello Samantha Bosshart
