INTRODUCTION The proposed Project is located at 122 Regent Street, in the City of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga County, NY. The project includes the adaptive reuse of an existing educational use structure to four residential dwelling units. New accessory structures/garages/storage buildings will be constructed along with new water and sanitary sewer connections to service the facilities. II. EXISTING WATER AND SANITARY UTILITES The existing building is serviced by City water via a ¾” copper service from White Street. The water service connects to a 4” water main in White Street. An existing City fire hydrant is located at the northeast corner of the Regent and White Street intersection. City sanitary sewer service is provided to the existing building via a 5” iron sewer line. The sewer line discharges to the City 8” sewer main along the south side of White Street. III. PROJECTED WATER AND WASTEWATER FLOWS Table 1 below provides information on the anticipated average potable water use and wastewater flow rates for the Project in gallons per day (gpd). Water use and wastewater flow are estimated to be equal for this study. Table 1 Description Use Rate Total Use (4) 3-Bedrooms 110 gpd/each1 1,320 gpd Total 1,320 gpd Average daily flow for wastewater is estimated to be 1.5 gallons per minute (gpm). Estimated peak hourly flow is 6.3gpm (4.2 x average)2. Average daily demand for water is estimated to be approximately equal to the wastewater flow or 1.5 gpm. IV. PROPOSED WATER AND WASTEWATER UTILITIES A. Proposed Potable Water Utilities To provide water service to the proposed units the existing ¾” water service will be abandoned and a new 4” water service will be provided from the White Street water main. The water main will be brought into the main building where it will be metered and split to service the building units. The detached accessory structures/garages will also have an option to be serviced by water. If the unit owner desires a separate ¾” water service can be provided to service their accessory structure. The ¾” water service would be brought from their main building unit. Connection and appurtenances including corporation stops, trenching, bedding, service connections, as well as testing and disinfection will all be specified in accordance with the City of Saratoga Springs and NYSDOH standards. B. Proposed Wastewater Utilities For sanitary sewer collection the existing building sewer service will be reused. The existing sewer service will be scoped during construction to confirm its condition. If the unit owner desires to provide sewer service to the accessory structures either a gravity or grinder pump can be provided to connect the structure to the main buildings sewer service.
