Good afternoon, I noticed there was a Public Hearing for the above referenced application evening. While I have no substantive comment on the specific setback variance requests, and agree that it generally is in character with the neighborhood, I do have concerns regarding parking. Already the parking requirements for the multifamily are generous in that 1.5 spaces are required for each unit and the applicant would be required to have three. In reality, a new unit will likely utilize 2 or more parking spaces and possibly more. I live adjacent to this parcel (on Clinton Street) and have lived here for several years. I see parking issues and live with them everyday. Given this, I would like to provide the following comments: • It appears the applicant is requesting relief for one spot that would be required and will be providing two spots. This is a substantial request as it represents a reduction of 1/3 of the required amount, or over 33%. This street is very tight and aven one car will negatively affect residents who currently live here and must utilize the street to park who reside in pre-existing non conforming buildings in this area. • I feel this will cause safety problems on Thomas Street as already cars whip down the street and are generally unaware of their surroundings. This is particularly true of delivery vehicles who go both ways on Thomas Street despite the"one-way" signage. Forcing residents to park tighter only leads to more congestion on this already tight street. • Lastly, this is clearly self-created. While the applicant wrote about being led to believe differently, the onus falls on them to purchase a property with all the correct information. Again, I generally don't have any issue with the project setbacks etc. and feel the design is more than appropriate; parking is my main concern. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the hearing, so I respectfully ask that my comments are provided to the Board for their consideration.
