The Foundation is pleased with the changes to the cornice, simplifying its treatment on the secondary facades of the building. However, the Foundation continues to advocate for the parapet of the existing one-story building be altered to allow for a better transition between the existing building and the proposed addition as well as the west elevation to be a simple design and not replicate the primary façade. The west facade should have limited detail to be consistent with the rear facades of the adjacent historic buildings. The Foundation also recommends that the first floor of the west elevation be made of stone and/or the header be made more substantial to mitigate the appearance of the upper floors floating. Again, thank you in advance for your thoughtful consideration.
