Comments I am discouraged to see continued over-development in
already dense residential single family dwelling neighborhoods
in the City of Saratoga Springs. Specifically, garage demolition
and reconstruction projects of mass and scale that appear so
large and disproportionate to the city landscape, charm and
aesthetic should be discouraged or disallowed near single
family dwellings in residential neighborhoods in Saratoga
Springs. Structures that clearly blight established neighboring
properties to such a conspicuous degree are a detriment to the
city landscape and create a threat to the environment and
infrastructure, as continued removal or risk to trees and other
plantings will create water run off problems and increased
parking needs will dramatically change the lifestyle of long time
neighborhood residents. Stronger guidelines are needed for
adjacent property construction and reconstruction projects near
single family dwellings. There has always been a collective
effort to maintain the character of our city. Continued over-
development in already dense single family dwelling
neighborhoods reflects a failure to carefully adhere to
responsible construction guidelines.
