Display images below Dear Mr. Torpey, My name is Betsy Olmsted and my family resides at 53 Greenfield Ave, sharing a property line with 2 Clement Ave, including a walking path directly to State St. I believe you know my husband, Peter, from NYSERDA. I am writing to express my concerns over the potential special use of 2 Clement Ave as a Bed and Breakfast. We have been living at 53 Greenfield Ave for nearly 4 years and value the neighborhood, and more importantly, the relationships we have established with neighbors who create our community and a trusting environment. I am concerned that the addition of a commercial institution in such close proximity will breach the values that we have established within our neighborhood and disrupt the peace, safety and quiet nature of the area. One of my biggest concerns is pedestrian safety, especially with the playground being across the street and no sidewalk at 2 Clement. Our children, as well as many others in the area, walk to the the playground via State St., and feel that the increased traffic and addition of extra parking spaces at 2 Clement will increase the risk of accidents. Already, children and families pushing strollers regularly cut through the yard at 2 Clement, since there is no designated walking path. Please see the attached screen shot of the application, which shows section 8c as being unanswered, which asks: "Are and pedestrian accommodations or bicycle routes available on or near the site of the proposed action?" It is highly important that this issue be discussed at the meeting. In addition, I would like to express support and agreement with the letter submitted by Rosemary Radcliff, et al. I hope that the Board will reject the application for the Cluett House Bed and Breakfast, as this would be in the best interest of our neighborhood.
