Dear Zoning Board of Appeals, write to amend my earlier letter regarding this proposal. I am a direct abutter to the property in question. Subsequent to the above-referenced letter, I learned from the applicants that they planned to cut down the large and mature tree at the front of their property (Regent Street side). withdraw my non-objection to this proposal if it includes the tree being cut down/removed/displaced/or altered beyond minor pruning and maintenance. On Wednesday, April 17, 1 spoke by phone with the applicant, Brenda Kelly, to voice my objection to the tree being cut down. Mr. Kelly arranged a conference call between himself, his engineer, and me so that https://m.sa ratoga-spri ngs.org/h/printmessage?id=48148&tz=America/New_York 1/2 4/18/24, 1:16 PM Zimbra he and I could ask the engineer whether the tree needed to be removed/altered to accommodate this proposal. The engineer informed Mr. Kelly and me that there is absolutely no reason that the tree should be removed to accommodate this proposal. In the engineer's words, cutting it down was for "aesthetics only." As a result of this information from his engineer, Mr. Kelly stated to us that since there is no reason for the tree to be removed, he will not remove it, and the tree will remain intact and in place, although it may be pruned to maintain its health and to keep branches off utility wires. My non-objection to this proposal is contingent on Mr. Kelly's assertion that he will not removed/displace this tree and that the tree will remain in place. Thank you.
