To whom it may concern:
Part of the function of the ZBA , as I understand it, is to help
preserve the character and integrity of the neighborhood. In the
case of the last two empty lots that have been sold on my street -
myself and the neighbors have been able to predict with stunning
accuracy that substantial variances would be requested to
shoehorn a large house onto a small lot. This has happened with
both lots.
This neighborhood looks nothing like the neighborhood I moved to
23 years ago. We have lost two Victorian homes (our city's stock
in trade), most of the greenspace, and trees that are two to three
hundred years old. The latter two have decreased the bird
population and have significantly decreased the wildlife in our
neighborhood.

If there is a need for blasting, we are definitely against this
project. Blasting has damaged neighbors home's foundations and
the root system of the nearby trees.
I am not even sure why we have these meetings. The granting of
the requested variances look to me to be a forgone conclusion.
Both lots referred to in this letter had construction markings
before the meetings were even published.
It's not that we don't welcome new people into the neighborhood.
We are delighted by the new neighbors that have added to the
pleasant ambiance and make living here a joy. There seems to be
no consideration by the ZBA for the people who already live here.
It would be nice if the ZBA just asked the new people to "tone it
down" and try to preserve what little of the original character of
the neighborhood that remains.
Thank you for your kind consideration of our concerns.
