Comments As I have commented before, I strongly object to allowing
private property owners to encroach on public right-of way, in
this case the sidewalk on downtown Broadway. Tourism is one
of our largest economic engines and our sidewalks are very
crowded during the tourism season. We should be encouraging
walking as much as possible for many reasons (environmental,
economic and social), not impeding it with narrowing the usable
walkway. This is different from providing more temporary
outdoor restaurant seating generating economic activity
especially during a pandemic. 395 can build a few indoor steps
from their entry doors instead of outdoor steps on the public
sidewalk.
